At first glance the nature around our residential areas seems intact. Lots of green, numerous purling brooks, and creeks, Greifensee as popular recreational area.
Only at second glance it becomes obvious how profoundly the landscape has been formed by human impact.
Arable land is limited in Switzerland. Inevitably this leads to conflict between farmers producing our high-quality food products and conservation of natural habitats.
The same is true for expanding urban areas and traffic network.
Habitats of wildlife is being fragmented or so pervasively changed, that less robust species vanish. Wildlife corridors between populations are interrupted.
